Mac OSX (10.4 Tiger)

If your connecting to calfiles.evergreen.edu via Mac OSX (10.4), there is one compatibility issue you will need to resolve before continuing. You will need to be sure to set your machine to prevent the creation of a .DS_Store file over a network connection. Before going any further, follow these directions from Apple;

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301711 >The first will be to “Open the Terminal” that can be found through this path: hard drive>applications>utilities>terminal.

After that….

With the finder selected (It says “Finder” next to the apple in the left hand corner of the window), select the “Go”, then select the “Connect to Server” menu choice. This will bring up a dialog box that will allow you to input the address of the network location;

On campus: smb://masu/programs

Off campus: Must be the exact Program folder location, which can be found here. example:https://calfiles.evergreen.edu/programs/Found_Health_Sci

Type in the address as shown above and hit the Connect button. You’ll be asked to authenticate (login) with your Evergreen name and password, then that’s it, you’re done. The share should appear on your desktop and the folder will automatically open for you.

The result should be file access to your program folder (through your program folder) and your student folder (through students07) on masu that will allow you to do all the file management tasks you would with any other shared resource on your machine (albeit a tad slower).

If all else fails, your files are accessible through the internet by following the instructions here for Programs or here for personal files. Enter your login with ’@evergreen.edu’ and your password normally. However, you will not be able to save back to the original file, SO PLEASE SAVE IT TO YOUR HOME COMPUTER!
