The Evergreen State College Wordmark

The Evergreen State College

Mac OSX (10.1 - 10.3)

If your connecting to calfiles.evergreen.edu via earlier versions of Mac OSX, you have to go through a few hoops. While OSX does have a built in WebDav client it (for now) is not capable of connecting to a secured WebDav server like calfiles. So to access calfiles you will need to download and install a program called Goliath. It is available at http://www.webdav.org/goliath/ . There are versions available for both OS X and recent version of classic MacOS (8.1 or greater). These are available at http://www.webdav.org/goliath/installs/Goliath1_0_1.dmg.gz and http://www.webdav.org/goliath/installs/Goliath_1_0_1.sit.hqx respectively. You will need a high speed internet connection to make this work well such as a T1 cable modem, or DSL.

Once you have installed the appropriate version open the program and enter the appropriate url in to the space labeled.

On campus: smb://masu/programs

Off campus: https://calfiles.evergreen.edu/programs

This is most easily done by going to the calfiles website with a web browser (click on the programs or students link on the left), and right (or control)+clicking on the link that you wish to open (academic program name or personal file name) and selecting copy link (or bookmark) location and pasting this in to the URL field in Goliath. This needs to be a "fully qualified name", meaning you need to make sure that the address you paste includes the name of your student or program folder in order to work. Then enter your Evergreen username and password as you would to login on campus.

The result should be file access to the workspaces on masu such as you see above that will allow you to do all the file management tasks you would with any other shared resource on your machine (albeit a tad slower). Please give us a call if you have any problems with this process.
